Mapping Andriessen | Asko|Schönberg + Ensemble Klang

Asko|Schönberg en Ensemble Klang honor the enormous influence Louis Andriessen had on the music scene in the Netherlands and abroad with Mapping Andriessen. His music is performed by his international students that founded their own ensembles and became important figures in their own scene: Julia Wolfe in New York with Bang on a Can, Steve Martland and Matthew Wright in England and Pete Harden with Ensemble Klang in The Hague.

The first part of the evening honors orkest The Volharding. Ensemble Klang will perform Andriessens On Jimmy Yancey and works by Julia Wolfe and Steve Martland. In the second part Ensemble Klang en Asko|Schönberg will perform work by Andriessens students Missy Mazzoli and Pete Harden. Pete Harden will also perform with Avenue Azure, the duo he has with pianist Saskia Lankhoorn. To complete the evening there will be Matthew Wrights Thrift Hybrids with Claron McFadden.
