OCCAM HEXA V | Éliane Radigue, Carol Robinson
OCCAM HEXA V was created in 2021 by Eliane Radigue and Carol Robinson as a new half hour long work for the six musicians of Ensemble Klang and premierd at November Music in Den Bosch.
In the OCCAM series, waterways and bodies of water are important points of inspiration, and for this new work, the Binnendieze, the waterway that runs through the city of Den Bosch, has provided the map through the piece itself. The work is co-written by Carol Robinson, who shuttled between Radigue in Paris and Klang in The Hague over the period of a few months. Robinson is one of Radigue’s closest collaborators. In addition to premiering over fifteen of Radigue’s demanding acoustic pieces, Robinson has co-composed several works from OCCAM OCEAN. Her hands-on work with Ensemble Klang was instrumental in bringing this special new work to life.
In September of 2021, Carol and members of Klang, took a boat trip around the Binnendieze, documenting its different elements. It’s been an intensive and enlightening process creating this work, one which exists without any written score, everything being communicated verbally, and the whole ensemble is thrilled to be presenting it for the first time.
