One of four live performances inside Sara Vrugt’s mesmerizing installation.

Sara Vrugt is a textile artist and designer and one of Ensemble Klang’s associate makers. In 2021 and 2022, we brought together two works celebrating our relationship to the trees that surround us, and the power of multi-person collaboration. Keir Neuringer’s musical work Litanies of Trees and Sara Vrugt’s mega-artwork 100,000 Trees were brought together in this project. With Roerloos, Sara created an absolutely impressive installation. With Ensemble Klang we created the soundcape and will be present four times, to give a live performance inside the installation.

This interactive artwork invites you to become part of the experience. As a visitor, you lie beneath a chestnut tree with roots made of hundreds of bells. When you remain completely still, the tree begins to speak. Music, stories, and natural sounds encourage you to reflect on the relationship between humans and nature. A room-filling installation made from an old chestnut tree and hundreds of bells. Take a seat in Roerloos and reflect on the relationship between humans and nature.

Catch one of the live performances on 12 October, 9 November, 14 December and 22 February 2026. You can view the installation with soundscape from 11 Oct 2025 until 22 Fe
