Trance with United Instruments of Lucilin

Michael Gordon’s Trance is one of the most influential works of recent decades. In 2026, the piece will celebrate its 30th anniversary, a milestone that coincides nicely with the 70th birthday of its composer, Michael Gordon, in the same year.
Ensemble Klang has seized upon these anniversaries to bring this iconic work to Dutch stages in an international collaboration with United Instruments of Lucilin from Luxembourg.

In doing so, she combines Gordon’s Trance with new works by Calliope Tsoupaki and David Fennessy, written for the same striking ensemble: 23 amplified musicians on keyboards, trumpets, trombones, guitars, pan flutes and saxophones. An ensemble of immense impact, rooted in the Netherlands and The Hague, as well as in Louis Andriessen’s *Hoketus*.

This performance of Trance promises to be a truly exceptional experience for the audience.
