Sara Vrugt designs with textiles and thread, humour and an idealistic streak.

Associate maker Sara Vrugt

Sara Vrugt is a textile artist and designer. She designs with textiles and thread, humour and an idealistic streak. Her embroideries and participatory projects touch on social themes. With her work, she allows people to look at everyday life with a fresh perspective.

In 2021 and 2022, we brought together two works celebrating our relationship to the trees that surround us, and the power of multi-person collaboration with Keir Neuringer’s musical work Litanies of Trees and Sara Vrugt’s mega-artwork 100,000 Trees.

Roerloos
During Musical Utopias #7 in 2025 we presented the try-out of our newest collaboration, Roerloos. You can experience Roerloos in full from 11 October 2025 – 22 February 2026 at Museum Arnhem. The soundscape will be created by Ensemble Klang and on 12 October, 9 November, 14 December and 22 February 2026 you can enjoy the installation with live music by Ensemble Klang.
