Sara Vrugt designs with textiles and thread, humour and an idealistic streak.

Associate maker Sara Vrugt

Sara Vrugt is a textile artist and designer. She designs with textiles and thread, humour and an idealistic streak. Her embroideries and participatory projects touch on social themes. With her work, she allows people to look at everyday life with a fresh perspective.

In 2021 and 2022, Ensemble Klang and Sara Vrugt brought together two works celebrating our relationship to the trees that surround us, and the power of multi-person collaboration. Keir Neuringer’s musical work Litanies of Trees and Sara Vrugt’s mega-artwork 100,000 Trees were brought together in this project. A new project with Sara Vrugt will form a core part of Musical Utopias #7 in January 2025.
