Stephanie Pan is known for finding a form of contact with the audience which is stripped of social expectations and distractions.

Associate maker Stephanie Pan

Stephanie Pan is a voice artist, performer, composer, curator and interdisciplinary maker currently based in The Hague, the Netherlands. Stephanie Pan is known for finding a form of contact with the audience which is stripped of social expectations and distractions, that speaks beyond the conventional and social limitations and constructs of language. Her work is passionate, visceral and intense, and often explores the limits of the body and voice.

Stephanie Pan and Ensemble Klang have worked together since 2018, although we studied together with Stephanie many years before that. We’ve worked on the live shows for Stephanie’s first album Have Robot Dog, Will Travel (2018-). And Stephanie was the soloist for Igor C. Silva’s multimedia work Follow (2021).

Our latest collaboration is The Art of Doing Nothing that premiered at the Musical Utopias Festival in January 2024. The creation of The Art of Doing Nothing is the focus of Stephanie’s Associate Maker project with Ensemble Klang and was build gradually across multiple sessions through 2023, with audience present for small try outs and Q&As. On top of that, Stephanie is part of a large education project with Klang at ArtEZ in April 2024, working with 120 students to create interdisciplinary works.
