JS Bach’s Voyager Golden Record Prelude

A gift from Ensemble Klang to the Bach Festival Dordrecht, this little film is a tribute to the Voyager Golden Record. NASA’s Voyager 1 spacecraft departed our shores back in 1977 and is currently floating further from Earth than any other human-made object. On board is a golden LP containing a recording of this Bach Prelude. After drifting through light years of dark empty space the probe might one day encounter some lucky alien life-form who’ll be able to discover its recorded human delights.

The work forms a part of our 2020 Diversions: a series of online videos and recordings made during the corona lockdown and socially-distanced year of 2020.
