An Embroidered Forest

Special project

A large-scale project bringing together two works celebrating our relationship to the trees that surround us, and the power of multi-person collaboration. Keir Neuringer’s musical work Litanies of Trees and Sara Vrugt’s mega-artwork 100,000 Trees will be brought together in a project that links Ensemble Klang with students from the Koninklijk Conservatorium, the new Amare Concert Hall (The Hague), Theater De Nieuwe Regentes (The Hague) and some 1300 embroiderers. The work takes the form of an installation, with recordings of forests from around the world, made on 12 July 2021 (Henry David Thoreau’s birthday), and also a live immersive performance with 16 musicians surrounding the artwork and audience.
